If your budget is limited, but golf is the sport
you're detemined to master, then you have lots of options
starting with purchasing pre-owned golf equipment. These range
from slightly worn items to golf carts no longer needed by a fellow
golfer, so you have many ways to be the owner of high quality,
but low priced golf items.
The golf clubs you use become an intimate part of
your golf game. Finding a suitable set of used golf
clubs may be a bit tricky, but definitely not
impossible.
If you've got a good idea what type of golf clubs you
want, there are resale shops that should be able
to help you acquire a good set of golf clubs to get
you started.
Even if you're looking for left-handed clubs or some other unique feature,
you'll be surprised how easy it is to find used clubs for
whatever your needs may be.
Slightly worn golf
shoes are commonly available, whether you find them at a
yard sale, thrift store or a pre-owned golf accessory store, name
brands area easy to
find.
There is an old saying among resale shop patrons
-- "If you're looking for something
specific, the odds are you won't find what you're looking
for until you've bought it new."
Used golf balls are probably the easist
to find and can often be purchased by the bag at yard
sales or thrift stores. These balls are smart to
purchase because they allow you to practice your golf swing without
worrying about losing expensive balls. Used golf balls are
often ones that have been recovered from water hazards, or simply
balls lost in the trees, so the quality will vary.
You can
find bags of tees for minimal cost also as well as ball
washers, golf towels, and cleat
wrench kits. Golf club covers and other accessories are often
available at yard sales and in
resale shops.
Golf carts can also be purchased used
if you prefer riding the course rather than walking. Manual push or
pull carts are an alternative to a golf cart and are quite
inexpensive when compared to a cart.
 There are
websites that make it easy to find replacement parts for motorized golf carts if you decide to
get one. In the long run, owning your cart may be more cost
effective then renting one each time you play a round if you really
get into the game and start playing regularly.
Purchasing pre-owned golf equipment is definitely going
to save money and most times you'll find they perform just as
well as new equipment.
Pre-owned and gently used equipment
including accessories and golf clubs is certainly worth
considering when starting out. Many golfers start out with used
clubs, and then gradually build up their set by purchasing a new
driver, and then adding new specialty clubs, pitching wedges and
special drivers as they go along.
So, it's up to you, however, until
you're absolutely sure you're going to play regularly, the safest
bet is to rent equipment or purchase low cost, but good quality used
equipment until you're ready to step up to the big leagues.
